Writing Checklist
- All of my sentences are complete and have a subject and a verb.
- All of my sentences begin with a capital letter.
- All of the names of special days, titles of books or songs, or specific names of people, places or things are capitalized.
- All of my sentences end in proper punctuation . ! ?.
- If someone is speaking, all of my quotations have quotation marks “ ” before and after the person’s words and proper punctuation , . ! ? when they’re done.
- All common nouns, verbs, and any other words that should not be capitalized are written with lowercase letters.
- When I want to connect two or more ideas or list two or more things in a sentence, I use commas.
- All words are spelled correctly and I have checked them with a dictionary, thesaurus or other reference book.
- All subjects and verbs agree with each other and are in the correct verb tense (past, present, future).
- All contractions or possessives use apostrophes.
- There are no extra words that don’t make sense in the sentence.
